Songwriting
Yuval Ronen is a Brooklyn-based songwriter, producer, audio engineer, and multi-instrumentalist. He holds a Bachelor’s of Music from Berklee College of Music (Summa Cum Laude) majoring in Songwriting, a Master’s of Music from New York University majoring in Music Technology, a diploma from SAE Institute of Technology in Audio Engineering, and a certificate from The New School, where he studied Jazz Performance.
He has been a lecturer at CUNY, where he developed and taught courses in music production, composition, Western music, and African-American music. He has hosted songwriting workshops, and taught songwriting, music production, music theory, and guitar to numerous private students. He won the Best Studio Production award in a contest by Avid (the company behind the industry-standard Pro Tools software) for a song he wrote, produced, and engineered. His innovative research paper on mixing vocals was published and presented at the prestigious Audio Engineering Society’s (AES) International Conference in 2015.
Starting out as a singer-songwriter, he performed with his original songs amassing a loyal following. He then shifted his focus to working behind-the-scenes as a songwriter/producer, co-writing and producing up-and-coming artists, as well as composing original music and songs for commercials around the world. He has an extensive knowledge of different genres (from Rock, Folk, Singer-songwriter to current Pop and EDM), and is passionate about working with artists from different backgrounds and musical styles.
His teaching philosophy revolves around finding the true “voice” of the artist, and tailoring his teaching approach to fit the learning style and goals of his students. He believes in learning by doing, and likes his students to immediately apply the tools they learn in the lessons. With encouragement and guidance, he helps his students build a catalog of songs they are proud of while continuously improving their craft.
