Audio Production Lessons

Engineering
A native of New Rochelle, New York who spent his adolescence in Vermont, cutting his teeth in the Burlington music scene, Kris began his journey into audio production by recording demos for local bands in his parents’ basement.
After an internship at Imaginary Road Studios, working for Grammy award winners - famed Windham Hill Records founder, artist, and producer Will Ackerman and engineer Corin Nelson, Kris returned to the NYC metro area to attend the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase College and graduated magna cum laude in 2008 with a BM in Studio Production. In the past 15 years, he has owned or engineered at studios in Putnam and Westchester counties, Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, Queens, Brooklyn, and the Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina.
He has had songs featured on ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and TLC’s American Pickers, and has worked on Billboard charting releases for Wichita, Team Love, Bridge Nine, Sunset Blvd, and Freeman Street Records, including recent releases for the estates of Dexter Gordon and Roky Erickson.
Kris’ teaching philosophy has always been to focus on a student’s aspirations through their material, as techniques constantly present themselves in the processes of composition, arrangement, mixing, and sound design. Students can expect mini masterclasses to pop up when unfamiliar concepts arise, with the overarching goal always being to move forward with building a portfolio - honing skills, bettering output, and thinking outside of the box, while finding a voice and crafting a sonic signature.
When not teaching music production for Lagond, Kris frequently works on digital and vinyl mastering, restoration, and mixing, tour manages and provides all things audio both live and in-studio for the number one Apple charting podcast Old Gods Of Appalachia, and runs front of house live sound for events of all types. He is the lead guitarist in the project Labrador.
