The Impact of Your Contribution to Scholarships: Supporting Musical Excellence

Our Track Record:

The benefits of music in child development are immense, enhancing learning, emotional growth, and social skills. At Lagond Music, we fuse musical passion with academic excellence. Our alumni have attended prestigious universities and renowned conservatories, building successful careers in music. Our class of ‘23 representing 18 students secured a collective $2.9 million in merit-based music and academic scholarships for their college education. Our post-graduate alumni have performed alongside stars like Billie Eilish, Bruce Springsteen, Wynton Marsalis, Miley Cyrus, Macklemore, Kanye West, Dolly Parton, and David Byrne. They appear on national and international TV and work within major A&R, publishing, and music industry firms.

Why We Need Your Help:

Despite our achievements, financial barriers still prevent many gifted students from accessing our programs. We are dedicated to identifying and supporting these deserving teenagers, enabling them to pursue their career aspirations.

Who Benefits from These Scholarships?

This year's Art$W Challenge donations are allocated for five (5) exceptional students from Mount Vernon's Denzel Washington School of the Arts. After rigorous auditions and interviews, Lagond's Musical Director has selected these students as exemplary candidates. With your help, they can begin 45-minute private lessons in January 2024.

The Impact of Your Contribution to Power Through Performance: Empowering Musicians with Disabilities

Our Track Record:

For over two decades, Lagond Music has been doing more than forming bands—we've been building bridges toward inclusion. Our Power through Performance (PTP) program empowers musicians with disabilities, challenging and reshaping societal perceptions about disability through music.

Why We Need Your Support:

PTP provides weekly rehearsals, instruction, and monthly community outreach performances, all of which are funded by generous donations, sponsorships, and grants. Experienced PTP musicians also take on the role of ambassadors, mentoring peers with disabilities, as Lagond advocates for their equitable treatment in the music industry. Our ultimate goal is to highlight these musicians for their talent and passion above their disabilities.

The Impact of Your Contribution:

Every dollar from this year’s Art$W Challenge directly funds scholarships for private lessons and band involvement. These scholarships help ease the financial strain on parents of children with disabilities, who often face considerable extra costs. Your donations also support the hosting of monthly PTP talent showcases, fostering a welcoming space for networking and nurturing an inclusive community.
