Rusty Holloway (Bass)

As a professional bassist since the 60’s, Rusty had many opportunities accompanying artists such as Tams, Platters, Drifters, Coasters, Little Anthony,“Fats” Domino, Martha Reeves, Percy Sledge, along with many R&B bands throughout the east and south.

In 1970’s, he moved to the northeast playing concerts with Al Cohn, Zoot Sims, Dizzy Gillespie, Al Grey, Curtis Fuller, Joe Williams, Woody Herman, where her toured with Joe Lovano, Billy Drewes, Charlie Lagond, Ralph Lalama, and many others.

Bass Professor in classical and jazz at University of Tennessee from 1979 until 2014 where he was also a founding member of the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra, a big band with a concert series featuring very many of today’s artists.

Rusty retired the University and has moved to Manhattan where he now plays with numerous jazz artists on a regular basis and is now teaching at Lagond.
