Paul Maddison is a guitarist and singer/songwriter who grew up in a household of professional educators. When asked in ninth grade what he wanted to do for a living, his response was “Be a rock guitarist!” His educator parents insisted he first get a degree in music education. Then, he could focus on a lucrative career as a rock musician.
After studying classical guitar, jazz, philosophy, and composition at SUNY Purchase, he left ready to begin life as a working musician on the mean streets of New York City.
In addition to being a working musician, Paul has been able to share all of this knowledge at the best institution in the world: the Lagond Music School.
Teaching at Lagond has become a true passion of Paul’s: sharing in the community experience, working with the best up-and-coming musicians in metropolitan New York, and consistently pushing himself and his students to new levels.
He has recorded, toured, performed and written songs with Pete Francis, Dispatch, Alexz Johnson, Charlene Kaye and The Thang, and under his own name. When Paul is not obsessively working on music, he’s hanging out with his poet wife or riding his BMX bike around Astoria, Queens.
