Summer 2018: New One Week Programs

We are excited to offer the following new programs this summer:

Beginner Band Programs 
July 9 – 13
July 16 – 20
August 13 – 17
August 20 – 24
M-F 10am – 3pm | Ages 10 – 13

Our one-week beginner band program is a 5-day program for middle school students designed to teach the fundamentals of playing in a band. Kids learn about Groove & Rhythm, Improvisation, and Technique, all while working together to play a variety of songs. This is a great experience for young musicians to see what it’s like to play together in a band.  Come Jam with us!!

Vocal Workshop
August 13 – 17
M-F 10am – 5pm
Intermediate and Advanced Players – ALL AGES

Learn about contemporary vocal music in a variety of styles: jazz, R&B, rock, pop, and singer-songwriter. Develop your own artistry while building the fundamental techniques required to be a great vocalist. Classes will cover song selection, tone quality and harmony. You will learn how to be blend as a background vocalist, how to front a band and deliver a song, plus microphone techniques and gear knowledge. Ensembles will include a cappella groups and small band combos. Learn from today’s active gigging vocalists like Rebecca Haviland, Marion Cowings and Celeste Simone. Sign up for individual master classes or take advantage of signing up for the full week.

Keyboard/Synth Workshop
August 13 – 17
M-F 10am – 5pm
Intermediate and Advanced Player – ALL AGES

Our one-week keyboard/synth workshop is a 5-day program for intermediate to advanced level keyboardists and pianists looking to broaden the horizons of what is possible on their instrument. In addition to learning fundamentals such as Improvisation, Comping, and Groove & Rhythm, students will have the opportunity to explore the myriad of different sounds in the keyboard family. Students will learn about organ technique (hands on with a real Hammond organ), clavinet and electric piano sounds, and synthesizer programming, as well as how each of these types of instruments is used in the music they love. Students are welcome to bring in equipment (keyboards, workstations, or laptops with software and a MIDI control) for hands-on instruction on how to make the most of their gear. Brass and Woodwinds Workshop
August 20 – 24
M-F 10am – 5pm
Intermediate and Advanced Players – ALL AGES

Develop yourself as a versatile musician playing in sectionals and full-ensembles. Dig into stylistic improvisation and applied theory. Learn the intermediate and advanced techniques of straight-ahead jazz, funk, Latin, to blues, rock, and everything in between. Play, compose, and arrange your original music and your favorite standards. Participate in breakout sessions on doubling, horn tech talk, and maintenance. Sign up for individual master classes with guest masterclass artists including Brian Landrus and other talented gigging professionals on today’s scene.  Or, take advantage of our blowout special by signing up for the full week!

Guitar Workshop
August 20 -24
M-F 10am-5pm
Intermediate and Advanced Players – ALL AGES

This comprehensive workshop trains students in all things guitar. Learn the secrets behind the sounds of Nir Felder, Oz Noy, Andy Aledort, Doug Munro, and Nicky Barbato. Students dig into a diverse pallet of styles through rhythm playing, creative improvisation, guitar-centric theory courses, specialized guitar ensembles, and geeking out in rotating guitar labs. Learn the intermediate and advanced techniques of straight-ahead jazz, funk, Latin, to blues, rock, and everything in between. Sign up for individual master classes with our guest clinicians, or shred the cost by signing up for a full week of guitar heaven!
